April 2012

Into April now and the change of tack is more than apparent. Returning after a short break to see both the ‘Scillonian III’ and ‘Gry Maritha’ sailing is always a welcome sight, but to couple this with visits from the landing crafts ‘Seven Sins’ and ‘Sabrina’ at the same time made for an interesting day.  The ‘Gry Maritha’ took two weeks off towards the end of March for her usual spruce up and survey and was accompanied in Penzance dry dock by the ‘Lyonesse Lady’, the Isles of Scilly Steamship Company’s inter island cargo launch, which travelled over to have some specialist metal work carried out amongst other things. The previously mentioned landing craft ‘Sabrina’ has visited again with more freight for the on going works upon Porthcressa beach whilst the similarly sized ‘Seven Sins’ dried out on Porthmellon beach to be loaded with scrap from the Council of the Isles of Scilly.
All of our local moorings are now available for use and will slowly fill up over the coming weeks and we have a steady stream of visiting yachts arriving but currently not more than two or three at a time. With Gig weekend on the horizon though, we will soon be full I’m sure…
