In its role as Statutory Harbour Authority, the Duchy of Cornwall has a strong commitment to protecting the local environment as well as providing a sustainable and forward thinking port. The Isles of Scilly enjoy one of the most beautiful and unspoilt regions in the country and the busy commercial port, without a doubt, needs to function with the highest respect to the landscape, wildlife and historic heritage of the Isles. Aspects can be seen within the Harbour’s port waste management and oil spill contingency plans as well as within the DEFRA requirements for the disposal of certain types of waste.
