Yacht Information

Harbour Speed Limit

The speed limit within the Harbour is THREE KNOTS and applies to all vessels. For the safety of all our customers this limit is strictly enforced.

Anchorage

Vessels are reminded that anchoring anywhere within St Mary’s Harbour limits is strictly prohibited. Vessels are also not to anchor within the approaches to St Mary’s Harbour as the Ferry and Cargo ship use this area for manoeuvring on a daily basis. St Mary’s Harbour Limits form a line from Newman Point to the Western most point of Newford Island. All vessels should be well lit at night

Radio Contact

The Harbour Office can be contacted via VHF radio channel 14 (working Channel) and we are also listening on channel 16 during working hours.

Pets

Pets from outside the United Kingdom cannot be brought ashore on the Isles of Scilly without meeting the requirements set out by DEFRA. These state that, as well as having the necessary passport and vaccination records, animals can’t be brought into the UK by private boat or plane but must travel with a recognised route operator
(a list of which can be found on the DEFRA website www.gov.uk/take-pet-abroad)

Pilotage

Any vessel over 30m LOA is subject to compulsory pilotage within a five mile radius of the southern tip of Samson, 49 55’.55N 006 21’W. Please see our ‘Pilotage information’ section or contact the Harbour Office for more information.

Biosecurity

Biosecurity is very important and here at St. Mary’s harbour we are delighted to help spread the news on the important work that is being done to help prevent the spread of Invasive non native species. We would be grateful if you could take some time to read the information that has been provided to us by the RSPB
