Pilotage

Pursuant to section 10 of the Pilotage Act 1987, the Duchy of Cornwall as the Pilotage Authority for the Isles of Scilly Pilotage District, hereby make the following list of charges to be effective from 1st April 2024.

 

 

SERVICES OF A PILOT

 

The charge for piloting a vessel under normal conditions and timings from the sea-way limits of the district to any part of the district and vice versa inclusive shall be as follows: –

  • The charge for piloting a vessel inwards or outwards only to and from the limits of the District shall be 50% of the full charge

 

  • The charges for use of a pilot outside normal conditions and timings include, but are not limited to, detention on board, moving within the district and unreasonable waiting around
    ETA/ETD are:
    • £90.00 per hour or part thereof whilst on duty
    • £47.00 per hour or part thereof whilst on-board and off duty

 

  • The charges for use of the Pilot vessel (CHA charges) outside normal conditions and timings are:
    • £215.00 per hour or part thereof 0800-1700
    • £306.00 per hour or part thereof  1700-0800

 

  • The charge for oral examinations:
    • £231.00 Examiner fee
    • £60.00 Adjudicator and premises

 

  • The charge for PEC renewal:
    • £116.00

 

  • The charge for use of PEC for vessels shall be
    • £27.00 per movement

 

  • The charge for administration, should the CHA charge not apply (no use of Pilot vessel)
    • £20.00

 

  • The charge for over carried Pilots will be equal to expenses incurred to return to the Isles of Scilly.

 

TONNAGE

 

The tonnage shall be gross tonnage (GT) as registered at the time the services are provided.

The length shall be length over all (LOA).

 

If charges incurred are not paid within one month from date on which they become due the following increases shall be payable: –

 

Period after Charge becomes due                                           Percentage Increase

 

Payment after one month but not exceeding two months                          00%

Payment after two months but not exceeding three months                      10%

Payment after three months but not exceeding four months                     15%

Payment after four months but not exceeding five months                       20%

Payment after five months                                                                             30%

 

DATE OF OPERATION

 

The charges specified in this list shall be payable in respect of services used on and after 1st April 2024

This list cancels the previous list of charges made by the Authority under Section 10 of the Pilotage Act, 1987 payable in respect of services used on and after 1 April 2023.

Any objection to the list: –

  • by persons referred to in Section 10 of the Pilotage Act 1987
  • on one or more grounds specified in that Section
